Aim is to give the youth a positive, non-judgemental environment, assess their needs, and help them in making plans; this may include mediation between the youth and their families and/or securing safety plans, or assistance in finding alternate family placements. All meals are provided. A referral is required by MCFD social worker who must gain permission from the youth's guardian; if the guardian cannot be reached, then the youth may be allowed to stay for three days under certain provisions. Pets cannot be accommodated. Facility is not wheelchair accessible. Transportation to the shelter is arranged through MCFD. Maximum stay is seven days. Serves Vancouver, Richmond, and the North Shore including the Sunshine Coast. Intake via MCFD social worker is 24 hours. Funded by MCFD.
